TROY

For over 25 years, Troy Brengle has tutored elementary, middle school, high school, and college students, helping them succeed in courses up through Calculus, as well as with standardized tests such as the SAT, ACT, GRE, ASVAB, and PRAXIS.

He has also taught math in middle and high school settings, including a math/special education program and a charter school for high-school-age inmates awaiting trial.

For six years, he worked in a therapeutic as well as educative role with children and adolescents in an inpatient psychiatric setting.

Troy holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics, and in 2007, he passed the North Carolina Praxis II knowledge and pedagogy exams, earning the label of Highly Qualified to teach math.

Most recently, Troy has taught math classes to homeschoolers in western North Carolina, including at Appalachian Academy of Therapeutic Arts.

Since the Sept. 2024 hurricane, Troy will be residing and tutoring in the Triangle for the foreseeable future.

Outside of tutoring and teaching, Troy can often be found barefoot on a trail in the woods. He is the founder of two barefoot hiking groups, and currently leads the Barefoot Hikers of the Triangle.
